Course Description

Tell your story in threads at the Woolwich Library every Monday afternoon from 1.30-4.00pm in the design of our Greenwich Tapestry guided by Sheila Louis. My aims are that all who attend work together to explore their connection with the Royal borough of Greenwich through stitch. (The Bayeux Tapestry of Greenwich). On the course you will share with your peer what Greenwich means to you to produce a group tapestry drawing inspiration from the rich community/history that exists in Greenwich. You will also produce a small sampler to run alongside the main group activity whilst you develop your own stitch library. On the course we will Share our history/connection with the borough of Greenwich while you stitch. No previous experience required just the willingness to learn and be part of this on-going project. As part of the project, you will develop * Your own stitch library * Techniques that can be used for the transferring of a design * Stitches to outline and a lot more If leaving a £10 deposit is a barrier because of financial difficulties, please contact learning@gcda.org.uk
