Course Description

Improve your sewing machine skills in a relaxed and friendly class where you can work at your own pace on your own projects. Whether you want to upcycle or mend an existing garment, or you’re making something from scratch, bring it along and our tutor Mary Jane Baxter will support you with ideas and techniques. She’ll also demonstrate a new technique each week to help you extend your sewing repertoire and capabilities. This five-week course is for people who can already use a sewing machine but who want to practice and extend their skills by working on their own projects in companionship with others. Learners will need to bring a basic sewing kit of fabric scissors, pins, thread, needles, and a fabric marking pen to the class in addition to their own project/s. Please note we now require a £10.00 deposit which is refunded on completion of the course and on request. If this is a problem, please contact: learning@gcda.org.uk. Please bring your proof of ID & NI number to the first session of the course, as an enrolment form needs to be completed. Once you have registered you have agreed to our terms & conditions.
