Established in the UK in 1998, Refugee Week takes place every year around World Refugee Day (20th June) & has since grown into a global movement with over 2 million participants, across over 20 countries. Through a programme of events, activities & media campaigns, the week brings together people from different backgrounds to connect & foster a deeper understanding of why people are displaced & the challenges they face.
CEO of GCDA Claire Pritchard. "We recognise the resilience, creativity, and contribution of refugees and people seeking asylum to our local communities and GCDA itself. We are committed to supporting people on their individual journeys as they seek to find a safe place for themselves and their families to thrive."

The Lewisham Refugee & Migrant Network was started in 1992 and today it advocates & supports some of the most vulnerable people in our society. It advises on critical immigration cases, helps prevent homelessness, meets basic needs & campaigns for change. You can drop into The Migrant Hub at Woolwich Common Community Centre (which is run by GCDA) every Tuesday from 10am - 4pm to receive much needed advice and food support.
