Course Description

This ten-week creative writing course invites you to explore how everyday life, neighbourhood spaces and personal stories shape your sense of belonging. Term time only. Open to all levels and genres, it offers a supportive space to experiment, reflect and grow. Through guided exercises, group dialogue and optional sharing, you’ll build confidence in your voice, develop creative momentum and connect more deeply with yourself, your writing and your community. Whether you’re starting fresh or returning to an existing project, the course provides structure, accountability and inspiration to help you make steady progress. By the end, you’ll have new writing tools, a stronger sense of your own creative direction and a sustainable practice that supports both your wellbeing and your work. Please note that every other week, this class will be held upstairs at the Front Room and there is no lift. Please note there will be no session during half term on Friday 31st October. Due to large numbers of people booking onto our courses and not turning up, we are now taking a £10 deposit for each course to help ensure attendance. You will be eligible to get the deposit back if you attend every session. Or, if you can’t attend, you must: · Email or contact the tutor or admin team on Learning@gcda.org.uk to let them know you can’t make it. · Still attend at least 70% of the course. Do not book on if you think you cannot attend 70% of the course. · You must give 24 hours notice to be eligible for the refund · If you don’t show up and don’t get in touch, you will lose your deposit. If leaving a £10 deposit is a barrier because of financial difficulties, please contact training@gcda.org.uk to talk to us about this. You must request the return of the deposit within 7 days of the end of the course.
