Course Description

Do you have garments in your wardrobe that are too small, too big, too long, or too short – just to name a few, made in beautiful fabrics that you just can’t bear to part with? Well now is the time to pull them out of the wardrobe and give them a new lease of life, ‘Alterations and Mending’ a series of sewing classes with women’s wear designer Coral Turner of Coral Turner Couture. Coral will show you how to rejuvenate your garments using a variety of couture sewing techniques from taking garments apart and refitting to replacing linings, shortening and hemming garments that are too long and designer tips for restyling your garments. Be prepared to stretch your imagination, as you alter your clothing and make anew, in return you will expand your wardrobe as well as your sewing skills. The ability to use a sewing machine past or present is essential for this class and having completed a GCDA's beginners sewing course. Contact us at learning@gcda.org.uk if you have any queries. Please note there will be no session on Monday 21st September, this course will finish in half term on Monday 26th September. Due to large numbers of people booking onto our courses and not turning up, we are now taking a £10 deposit for each course to help ensure attendance. You are welcome to leave the deposit as a donation, which will be used to support the learning contract. You will be eligible to get the deposit back if you attend every session. Or, if you can’t attend, you must: Email or contact the tutor or admin team on Learning@gcda.org.uk to let them know you can’t make it. Still attend at least 80% of the course.
