Course Description

Sewing is an essential life skill, and this course teaches those basics, whilst also instilling the importance of repairing and reusing for environmental and budgeting reasons. By the end of the course you'll be able to: Describe and list sewing machine basics; what should be in a sewing kit? Learn how to use a machine and make a simple pin cushion Sew a patchwork cushion cover using a simple envelope technique   Describe pattern basics; learn how to ‘read’ a pattern – start work on pinning and cutting out a simple book bag  Demonstrate simple hand-finishing techniques   Sew buttons, hems and other minor mends and alterations  If showing fully booked, please contact gerogia@gcda.org.uk and ask to be added to the waiting list We now have a £10.00 deposit when you register for this course. If this is a problem, please contact Georgia@gcda.org.uk. If you require your deposit back after completion of the course please request, as this will not be an automatic refund. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF REFUNDS Due to large numbers of people booking onto our courses and not turning up, we are now taking a £10 deposit for each course to help ensure attendance. You will be eligible to get the deposit back if you attend every session. Or, if you can’t attend, you must: · Email or contact the tutor or admin team on Training@gcda.org.uk to let them know you can’t make it. · Still attend at least 70% of the course. Do not book on if you think you cannot attend 70% of the course. · you must give 24 hours notice to be eligible for the refund · If you don’t show up and don’t get in touch, you will lose your deposit. If leaving a £10 deposit is a barrier because of financial difficulties, please contact training@gcda.org.uk to talk to us about this You must request the return of the deposit. The request must be made within 7 days of the course finishing.
