Course Description

Are you a foodie with a desire to run your own business? Do you dream of launching a street food stall, running your own bakery or seeing your products on supermarket shelves? Our 10 week guide to launching a food business can help turn your dream into a reality. Led by tutors with decades of experience in food and hospitality, there will be a mix of classroom sessions, group discussions, including discussions with other business owners, and independent research, we’ll take you through everything you need to get started. By the end of the course you'll be able to: -Analyse aims and identify a personal development plan to support these aims. -Develop a feasibility study and market research to assess the viability of the business idea. -Identify the most appropriate legal structure. -Demonstrate how to cost a recipe and apply this to all recipes -Describe the process of financial management and how this applies to the business. -Develop and practice using a profit and loss spreadsheet, including start-up budget. -Review marketing and branding techniques and develop a communications plan. -Using all this information, complete a business plan to get up and running. -Identify sources of funding Please note that there is no session on Thursday 30th May due to half term. Contact us at training@gcda.org.uk if you have any queries. Please also use this email address if the course is fully booked and you would like to be placed on a reserve list. Due to large numbers of people booking onto our courses and not turning up, we are now taking a £10 deposit for each course to help ensure attendance. You will be eligible to get the deposit back if you attend every session. Or, if you can’t attend, you must: · Email or contact the tutor or admin team on Training@gcda.org.uk to let them know you can’t make it. · Still attend at least 70% of the course. Do not book on if you think you cannot attend 70% of the course. · Please give as much notice as possible. · If you don’t show up and don’t get in touch, you will lose your deposit. If leaving a £10 deposit is a barrier because of financial difficulties, please contact training@gcda.org.uk to talk to us about this You must request the return of the deposit. The request must be made within 7 days of the course finishing.
