Course Description

Fancy putting your sewing skills to the test? Join us for two sessions of creative upcycling where you’ll take an unloved item of clothing, let your imagination run riot and make it catwalk worthy! Part of our Black History Africa Fashion series, this 2 x four hour workshop will help you unleash your creativity, learn different sewing techniques, and introduce you to ideas for making your own unique clothing items from preloved pieces. Bring along your own outfit to upcycle or delve into our pre-loved pile of goodies many of which have been donated by The Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice charity shops. Team these items with up to the minute African and European fabrics to create a unique garment that you’ll have the chance to wear at a fashion show in Woolwich this coming July. Your garment may also go on tour around the borough! This short course is intended for those who already have some experience of sewing and want to explore their creative side. NOT FOR BEGINNERS You will be using a sewing machine (provided) and doing hand stitching.
