Course Description

Essential for anyone wanting to improve their knife skills & learn new techniques. Designed to upskill current catering staff, those looking to find work in the catering industry, or just those who love to cook, this course covers all the basic principles of knife handling, knife safety and cutting techniques. Ideal for anyone wanting to improve their current position, find new work, or just be better equipped in the kitchen, this course will help build skills, confidence and knowledge. By the end of the course you'll be able to: Demonstrate safe knife handling Identify different types of knives & their uses Practise knife sharpening Demonstrate 5 new cutting techniques Complete 4 carved vegetables Contact us at training@gcda.org.uk if you have any queries. Please also use this email address if the course is fully booked and you would like to be placed on a reserve list. Due to large numbers of people booking onto our courses and not turning up, we are now taking a £10 deposit for each course to help ensure attendance. You will be eligible to get the deposit back if you attend every session. Or, if you can’t attend, you must: · Email or contact the tutor or admin team on Training@gcda.org.uk to let them know you can’t make it. · Still attend at least 70% of the course. Do not book on if you think you cannot attend 70% of the course. · you must give 24 hours notice to be eligible for the refund · If you don’t show up and don’t get in touch, you will lose your deposit. If leaving a £10 deposit is a barrier because of financial difficulties, please contact training@gcda.org.uk to talk to us about this You must request the return of the deposit. The request must be made within 7 days of the course finishing.
